Com 2 semanas de atraso nós finalmente conseguimos deixar o carro quase 100% pronto e resolvemos partir. Mas vamos aproveitar esse primeiro post oficial para falar um pouco dos dias que antecederam a partida.
25 de Maio – AA voo 1430 saindo de Miami com destino a Detroit, lá fomos recebidos no aeroporto pela Kimberley e Ryan que já estavam com o Jeep que nos foi cedido pela Chrysler durante nossa estadia. Pegamos um transito medonho e depois de mais de 2 horas chegamos ao hotel, em Birmingham.
26 de Maio – Logo cedo fomos para a sede da Chysler nos reunir com a equipe para finalizarmos alguns detalhes de como iriamos elaborar e distribuir o conteúdo de nossa aventura. De lá partimos para cidade de Toledo visitar a fábrica da Jeep, a linha de montagem e o modo como a mão de obra robótica e humana interagem é fantástico. Visitamos ainda a Mobis, uma unidade satélite onde são fabricados os chassis do Wrangler.
27 de Maio – Feriado, ninguém da fábrica para nos acompanhar, mas não se esqueceram de nós. No lobby do hotel havia dois ingressos para o jogo de baseball entre os Tigers e os Red Socks. Para quem nunca havia ido à um estádio desses antes a experiencia foi ótima mas depois de pouco mais de uma hora tentando entender como se jogava aquilo resolvemos dar um passeio e um pulinho no cassino MGM antes de voltar para Birmingham.
28 de Maio – De volta a Miami, continua o corre corre entre oficina, lojas de ferragens, lojas de auto peças, telefonemas atrás dos acessórios faltantes e ainda um tempinho para inflarmos nossos parapentes (Sol Ellus 3) num campo de futebol americano.
With two weeks of delay we finally managed to leave the car almost 100% ready and decided to leave. But I will use this first official post to talk a little about the days prior to departure.
May 25 - AA flight 1430 from Miami to Detroit, there we were greeted at the airport by Kimberley and Ryan who were already in the Jeep that Chrysler borrowed us during our stay. We took a horrible traffic jam and after more than two hours we reached the hotel in Birmingham.
May 26 - Early on we went to Chrysler headquarters to meet with the team to finalize some details of how we would prepare and distribute the contents of our adventure. From there we went to visit the Jeep plant at Toledo. The assembly line and how the robotic and human labor interacts are fantastic. We also visited Mobis, a satellite unit where the Jeep chassis is made.
May 27 - Holiday, no one from the factory to accompany us, but we were not forgotten. In the lobby of the hotel there was two tickets to the baseball game between the Tigers and Red Sox. For those who never went to one of these before the stadium was great experience but after a little over an hour trying to understand how the game is played we decided to take a walk and a hop in the MGM casino before returning to Birmingham.
May 28 - Back in Miami, still running between the car shop, hardware stores, auto parts, looking for missing accessories and even a little time to inflate our paragliders (Sol Ellus 3) on a football field.
